SUMMER CAMP FOR THE MIGRANT CHILDREN 2024

Day 1:
The summer camp at FIDES stated off with great enthusiasm on 11 th April 2024. The inaugural program was started in the presence of the chief guests, Sr Agnes Fernandez, Sr Philo Fernandez and Sr Sumi Joseph. The day began with a hymn, evoking a sense spirituality among the participants. Ms Priyanka, one of the animators, extended a warm welcome to the gathering. The symbolic planting of saplings by the chief guests aimed to instil a sense of environmental consciousness among the children.

Sr Agnes delivered a heartfelt talk, weaving together words of encouragement and empowerment. The children were then divided into groups for interactive sessions on child rights, English language skills, and essential life skills.

The day was filled with moments of joy, as children indulged in snacks breaks, engaging games, and lively action songs. Everyone enjoyed the scrumptious meals prepared by the sisters and FIDES Staff. The highlight of the evening was a speech competition, where children showcased their skills. As the sun began to set, and the first day of the summer camp came to an end, the children departed with smiles on their faces.

Day 2

On the second day of the summer camp the morning assembly echoed with cheerful tunes and energetic Zumba sessions, setting the stage for another day of learning and fun. Sr Fatima was here to put a start to the day by her inspiring words, emphasizing the importance of spiritual growth and personal development followed by educational sessions on health and hygiene and exploring the nuances of climate change awareness.

After taking a break to have the delicious meals, the children showcased their creativity at a captivating science exhibition, where their experiments and models left everyone surprised. The afternoon activities included games, action songs, and arts and crafts, providing a perfect balance of learning and leisure. The day concluded with satisfied smiles and happy hearts, as children departed, eager to share their experiences with friends and family.

Day 3
The final day of the summer camp, a sense of bittersweet excitement, as participants gathered one last time to celebrate the memories they had created together. The morning assembly resonated with heartfelt hymns and some exercise, infusing everyone with new energy and enthusiasm. Sessions on various subjects including Vedic mathematics and life skills, engaged the children in thought-provoking discussions and interactive learning experiences. The cultural fest was a spectacle of talent and creativity, as children showcased their talents through captivating performances and a spirited drawing competition.

As the day came to an end, the conclusion program commenced, Ms Neela FIDES Staff, welcomed the gathering, following which the Chief guests were honoured for their invaluable contributions, and a short video presentation highlighted the achievements and highlights of the summer camp. Sister Alice imparted words of wisdom and encouragement, reminding the children of their responsibility towards the environment and society. Participants shared heartfelt reflections on their summer camp journey, expressing gratitude for the friendships and lessons learned. The winners were

awarded with prize and the rolling trophy was given to the Children from Water Tank Evening Tuition Centre as they were identified as the in terms of discipline and participation. As it was time to bid farewell, Ms Jennifer FIDES Staff, delivered the Vote of thanks. Sr Sumi the Director of FIDES offered a token of appreciation to all the staff and volunteers. With joyful hearts and cherished memories, the children departed.
