FIDES FAMILYDAY 24.04.2016Back
The 22nd annual FIDES day celebration commenced at 10:30 a. m.on 24th April 2016, in the company of nearly 2500 people gathered from Kaverinagar, Ulsoor and the neighboring villages around Sacred Heart Convent. This festal momentwas inaugurated with an invocation to God Almighty through Mohiniyattam a traditional dance by the youth and symbolically watering of a plant by the dignitaries of the day.

The special invitees and guests of the day wereSr. Crescentia D’ Almeida -Provincial of Bangalore, Smt. SudhaBaragur -a renowned international humorist, Mr. AravindLimbavali - MLA, Mahadevapura, Mr. R.K. Prasad - CEO &Co-Founder, CommLab India,Mr. Aswathiah - Retd.Registrar of Co-operative Society, Bangalore and Mr. B Raju - Circle Inspector,Devanahalli Airport.

The whole function was focused on the theme “Family”.Smt. SudhaBaragurenlightened the gathering on the “ role of women in the family”. As a resource person, she captured the crowd with her humorous and solid presentation, offering tips for women to live responsibily and build a happy family.Mr. R.K. Prasad spoke on “the blessings of a happy family” and Mr.B. Raju highlighted the “unique role of the father, mother and children while building their own family”. On the other hand, thepresident Sr. Crescentia D’ Almeida dealt on “the contribution of Sr.Nancy towards Fides and her dream that continuous on”.Mr. AravindLimbavali - MLA in his message congratulated the missionaries for their “significant and selfless contribution on behalf of the poorest and the marginalized”.

Fidesis the brain child of Sr. Nancy Pereira. her motto was “Living is self giving to all the people and all the time”. Thiswas fondly remembered by the people as they acknowledged her yeomen serviceand remembered the many valuable helps and guidance received from her as a mother, benefactoress, friend and guide, for the growth of their own families.Thereafter the gathering paid a loving and grateful homage to her by placing a floral bouquet in front of her image. as many people.

The culruralprogramme consisted of three dances by the young people of our working areas. It was followed by a fraternal meal.

In her speech gratefully remembered sr. Nancy Pereira who started FIDES with help of Sr. Anna Karuvelil, Sr. Constance Gomez ,16 lay staff in the year 1994.She also summarized the history by telling how the project was initiated at M. V. Garden in Halasuru for about 1600 families and then extended to 12 villages around Avalahalli. She emphasized the aim of Sr. Nancy in launching out FIDES, to combat ignorance, illiteracy, ill health and moral and spiritual degradation in families by applying a threefold objective that she had outlined. She was happy say how Sr. Nancy was inspirational to all working around her and how she gained help from her good friends and benefactors in Italy and other parts of Europe to help the poor. She also quoted the words of Sr. Nancy that still lead the sisters and the team of FIDES to continue the mission laid by her. and recognition of services done to the poor of She concluded the intercession of Sr. Nancy Pereira, the foundress, sothat this programme may be a beacon of light to all who come in contact with it.

Mr. R. K. Prasad gave spoke on values and love as the focal point.He emphasized on the importance of values and how they can be acquired by love. He concluded saying that the love is the root of all values and is only learnt by helping the poor and serving just like the sisters in Salesian society.

All the guest who spoke on the dais mentioned about the good done by Christians. And appreciated FIDES work

The day was ornamented by the dances and songs by the FIDES family consisting of the villagers and students of DB Tech students. Programs varied from traditional to western and from young kids to the enthusiastic youth. Songs in their sweet melody didn’t fail to enthrall the audience. The main volunteers were acknowledged with gratitude for their support and help as a token of gratitude they were given a memento each. Prize distribution was done for the group that had the highest amount of savings.
