WORLD DAY OF MIGRANTS AND REFUGEES WITH YOUTH MIGRANTS
On this Migrant youth Day, let us seize the opportunity of the recovery from the
pandemic to implement the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular
Migration, reimagine human mobility, enable migrants to reignite economies at
home and build more inclusive and resilient societies.
Throughout human history, migration has been a courageous expression of the
individual’s will to overcome adversity and to live a better life. Today, globalization
together with advances in communications and transportation has greatly increased
the number of people, who have the desire and the capacity to move to other places.
This new era has created challenges and opportunities for societies throughout the
world. It also has served to underscore the clear linkage between migration and
development, as well as the opportunities it provides for co-development, that is,
the concerted improvement of economic and social conditions at both origin and
destination.
Migration draws increasing attention in the world nowadays. Mixed with elements
of unforeseeability, emergency, and complexity, the challenges and difficulties of
migration require enhanced cooperation and collective action among countries and
regions. The FIDES is actively playing a catalyst role in this area, with the aim of
creating more dialogues and interactions within neighbouring areas, as well as
propelling experience exchange and collaboration opportunities.
FIDES celebrated World Migrant youth day on 28-9-2021. More than 50 youth
participated in this event. Event started with lot of fun, youth came taking risk out
of rain. Anchor Ms. Vandana. M, Secretary of Auxilium youth Bandapura, started
the program, president of Auxilium youth Bandapura Ms. Haripriya presented a
video of youth activities. The event beganwith a small prayer. Welcome speech by
Sr. Vennila. The guest were Superior Sr. Monica, Directress of CDEW (FIDES) Sr.
Sumi and Bosco youth director Fr. William. There was a speech by Sr.
Monica which was inspiring. Sr. Monica said that “God is the one who give us
everything and he also has plans for everyone so, we’ll have to be happy with
whatever we have”, related to this Sr. Monica narrated a story in which there
was a boy with unlimited wants, which were fulfilled by his father with great
efforts, even if all his wants were fulfilled he was not happy until he saw aboy with
one leg ,in spite of his disability he was very happy. Then the boy realised
happiness will come from within not from possessions. This story was a true
motivation. Fr.William was the resource person, he took a session regarding
etiquette living and stress management. Probably it was a most needed session. It
was very interactive session, everything went on well. All the youth were happy
and enthusiastic throughout the program. At the end of the session migrant youths
end up with games and fun together with snakes.
