Summer camp for Migrant children at FIDES

Date: 10 –13 th April 2022
Event: Summer camp for migrant children
Place: FIDES, Bandapura
Participants: 80 NCP children
Facilitators: 12 LLB Students from Christ academic, 2 MSW Students from Krupanidhicollege and Sister Vennila (Event organizer)

On 10 th and 13 th of April 2022, FIDES organized four days of Summer Camp for the migrant children of 3 areas from Ramaya colony 55 children, DB colony 17 children and 8 migrant children from the campus. 12 LLB students, 2 MSW Students and Sr. Venilla were the resource persons who made the summer camp more joyful and lively with their different activities and classes. FIDES staffs were really a grate support in cooking and other voluntary service. There were almost 80 children who participated and benefited by the summer camp. The schedule and the activities of the summer camp as follows

Time table:-
10:00 to 10:30 – Yoga and Prayer
10:30 to 11:30 – Life skills
11:30 to 12:30 –Dance
12:30 to 1.00 – Craft work
1:00 to 2:00- lunch and Sing songs/action song
2:00 to 2:30 –English
2:30 to 3:00- Drawing
3:00 to 3:30- Karate
3.30 to 4.00 - Group activity/ games.

Day 1
The first day of summer camp was on 10 th April, 2022 at 2.00 pm. It started with inauguration with invocation of God by prayer, lighting of lamp and inaugural message by Sr. Monica Thomas superior of Sacred heart convent Bangalore. Sr. Monica Thomas, Sr.Sumi Joseph directress of FIDES, Sr.Vennila,10 voluntary students and 80 migrant children were present. Sr. Monica Thomas encouraged the children in her inaugural meassge quoting the words of Don Bosc Run, Jamp, play this 4 days but do not sin. The day started with first session with dance, Karate, group activities and games.Children were sending back home with snacks.

Day:- 2
The day-2 of the of summer camp was more joyful and enthusiast because the energetic training of the LLB students. The day began at 10:00 with yoga and prayer. According to the time table the day was carried out. 10:30 to 11:00 the children were provided with Life skills and value education for the personal development of the students. At 11:00 to 11:45 dances which the children enjoyed the most. 11:45 to 12:30 the facilitators provided with craft work skills. After lunch the classes continued with English communications, karate, group activities, drawing classes etc. After 3:30 pm the programme was winded-up with a short prayer and evaluation by Sr.Vennila.

DAY :-3 (6/4/22) In day -3 of summer camp the children were more familiarised with facilitators and enjoyed every Activities that being animated. As usual the day began with yoga and prayer. According to the time table the day continued. The topic for the life skills class was on self-awareness and self- knowledge which is import for the self-esteem. The day ended with evaluation and prayer by Sr.Vennila

DAY:-4 (7/4/22)
The fourth and last day of summer camp successfully went on well according to the time table. The topic for life skills was “problem solving”- Sr.Vennila with different activates made the children understand no problems are too difficult, if only we find different ways to solve it. The children are improving their skills with the support of the facilitators.

Conclusion of summer camp with skill show program. Half day the trainees took the sessions according to the time table and and half day they gave practise for the children according to the planned activities. Children also were provided with different completions. The day concluded with mega skill show event and prizes Distribution. The guests were Sr.Rosy Lopez directress of CDEW Socity who appreciated the initiative of the FIDES and the volunteers, others sisters Sr.Maria K, Sr.Florance, Sr.Rwishumi and Sr.Anna K. All were grateful to FIDES for much a wonderful organization being made for the children. The performance of the children wonder stuck the audience. All thanked FIDES and FIDES was grateful to God and Tall those who supported different way.

CONCLUSION
The summer camp program not only benefited the children also the trainees. It developed the skills of the children and motivated them to improve their interesting skills during their summer holidays. Both the facilitators and children learned team work and new learning.
