Girl Child Day Celebration

Girl Child Day 2023 was celebrated on September 6, 2023, with a dedicated awareness initiative led by Sr. Rani, Quest Alliance Incharge, and Ms. Christina, Quest Facilitator along with Quest Students. The event aimed to empower and enlighten young girls about the importance of health, education, and gender equality.
To kickstart the event, Mrs. Ayesha, Quest student addressed the gathered audience, emphasizing the significance of health and hygiene. She imparted practical tips such as the importance of daily baths and the necessity of washing hands before and after eating. These essential practices were shared to promote overall well-being among the girls.
Mrs. Lopamudra Rauto and Mrs. Sumaiya, Quest students engaged the audience in a meaningful discussion about the harmful consequences of child marriage and the paramount importance of education for girls. They urged the ladies of the colony not to endorse child marriages for their daughters, and their message was well-received with agreement and support from the attendees.
As the day progressed, Ms. Christina conducted an interactive activity designed to challenge gender stereotypes and promote gender equality. Participants were asked to associate various qualities like strength, risk taking, lovable, dominance, fashionable, intelligence, jealous and beauty with either gender. The activity served to highlight that there should be no differentiation between males and females based on these qualities. Ms. Christina concluded by emphasizing that given equal opportunities and a supportive environment, both genders can excel, and it is society's perception that needs to evolve to bring about this change.
In the evening, Girl Child Day 2023 was commemorated with an enlightening awareness program at Ramaiah Colony. Sr. Mary Rani, Ms. Vandana, Accountant, and Ms. Christina joined hands to spread awareness and empower the community, especially focusing on the importance of education and the detrimental effects of child marriage.
Ms. Vandana delivered an impactful address, emphasizing the paramount significance of education for girls. To illustrate the negative consequences of child marriage, she narrated a compelling story about a young girl's experiences. This narrative served as a powerful tool to raise awareness about the perils of early marriages.
Following the educational sessions, an engaging activity was conducted where the children were asked to stand representing various qualities attributed to human beings. They were then prompted to identify which qualities were traditionally associated with males or females. This exercise aimed to challenge gender stereotypes and biases. Sr. Mary Rani eloquently conveyed the message that there should be no distinctions between the genders based on these qualities
