25 YEARS' EVALUATION ON FIDESBack
FIDES has successfully completed its journey of 25 years. As a part of understanding its
impact on the society, the management conducted 3 days of evaluation of the social
development activities of FIDES, Bangalore, in the 3 areas of Bangalore(10
villages,Ulsoor, and Kaveringar) and their impact on socio-economic conditions of the target
groups from 17 to 19 July 2019 .The evaluation was monitored by Mr. Shaji Zacharia the
Consultant, who is having 28 years of experience in the field of social work. During the
evaluation the evaluator met the SHG leaders, 2 society Board Members, Federation
Members, Youth, Skill development training children, Staff, NCP groups, Tailoring students
the women who were engaged in Income Generation Programmes and also Salesian Sisters
House council members. As a conclusion the evaluator added that each one has to be an
inspiration for others like Sr. Nancy Pereira extending their hands to the people who live in
the periphery.
He was happy to find many girls who had successfully completed their studies and some
others still studying M.Com and others well placed in different companies such as Del 2
earning Rs. 56,000 and Wipro. There are no illiterate children in their areas. Many have
acquired the English language speaking skill. Most of the women’s groups are able to stand
by themselves. So far they were depending on money lenders for their needs. Today the
groups are able to give loans up to Rs, 1,00,000. Most of the women folk are going for
housekeeping and earning Rs. 9000/ to 12000/ per month adding an extra income to the
family. Family economical situation has improved, most of them have rebuild their own
houses. 95% of the women learned to have savings. Their saving amount increased from Rs.
25/- to Rs.500/-
Mr. Shaji has also seen the challenges yet to be looked into, though economically people
have improved. There is drug addiction, family disunity, infidelity in marriage, migrants
problem. The people wanted the sisters to make regular family visits, to have a counselling
unit, de addiction programmes, awareness programmes on the ill effects of addiction etc.
